6.0L Power Stroke FICM Mail-In Evaluation

2003–2007 Ford F-250 / F-350 / F-450 / F-550 Super Duty, Excursion, and 2004–2010 E-Series

What This Is

This is a mail-in evaluation for your Ford 6.0L Power Stroke Fuel Injection Control Module.

You send us your module.
We inspect it, test it, and tell you exactly what it needs — if anything.

No guessing. No pre-pricing based on a story. We work from the module itself.

Repair Pricing

Final pricing is determined after inspection and testing.

You’ll receive a clear quote before any repair work proceeds. No approval, no repair.

Why 6.0L FICMs Fail

The 6.0L FICM has two boards: a power supply board that steps battery voltage up to 48 volts to fire the injectors, and a logic board that controls timing. The power board is the usual failure. Weak batteries, a tired alternator, slow glow plugs, and hard cold starts make it work harder every winter until solder joints crack and the 48-volt supply sags.

Symptoms of a failing FICM:

  • Long crank or no start, especially when cold
  • Rough idle or misfire that clears once the engine is warm
  • FICM voltage below 45 volts on a scan tool during cranking
  • Codes P0611, P0261–P0284 (injector circuit), or intermittent loss of injector control
  • Stalling or surging under load

Low FICM voltage is not always the module. Bad batteries, corroded cables, a weak alternator, or a failing glow plug system produce the same reading. Call us before you ship it and we’ll help you sort out which one you have.

Same-Day Evaluation & Repair

In most cases, evaluation and repair are completed the same day your module arrives.

If the module is approved for repair and no unusual complications are found, we work through inspection, repair, and verification without unnecessary delay.

If something outside the ordinary is discovered, we’ll contact you before proceeding.

We don’t let modules sit on a shelf.

Board-Level Repair, Not a Swap

We repair the power board at the component level — failed solder joints, capacitors, MOSFETs, and regulators — and verify the 48-volt supply holds under load. Your logic board keeps its programming; nothing needs to be flashed or re-learned when it goes back in.

How We Evaluate Modules

When your module arrives, we:

  • Document its condition on arrival
  • Open the case and inspect both boards for cracked joints, corrosion, and heat damage
  • Bench-test the power supply under load and check the 48-volt rail
  • Repair as required (with your approval)
  • Re-test after repair and confirm stable output

When appropriate, we may document testing with photos or video.

What You’re Paying For Today

At checkout, you are paying for:

  • The shipping label to send your module to us
  • Bench diagnostics

Return shipping is invoiced separately once repair decisions are made.

Removing the FICM

The FICM sits on top of the driver-side valve cover under the intake. Disconnect both batteries, unplug the three connectors, remove the four mounting bolts, and lift it out. Ship the whole module — case, both boards, and the cover. Do not send the truck-side harness.

What To Include In The Box

Print a note with:

  • Your full name
  • Phone number
  • Email
  • Vehicle year and model
  • FICM voltage reading if you have one (key on, cranking, and running)
  • Trouble codes (if available)
  • Symptoms you’re experiencing

A Few Important Notes

  • This is not a flat-rate repair
  • This is not an exchange program
  • Some modules are repairable, some are not — inspection determines that
  • If your batteries and charging system are weak, a repaired FICM will fail again. Fix those first.

If you want a careful, properly verified repair instead of a mystery reman, you’re in the right place.
